1 Introduction to Our Data

Statistics in Jamovi Well-being Survey [PDF]

Well-being Survey Dataset [.csv]

This text uses a hypothetical dataset that includes several measures of well-being and variables that may predict well-being, such as social support. Linked above is the Well-being Survey that corresponds with this data. In that file, you will find the variable names, the specific question that corresponds with each variable, the response options for that question, and how the responses are coded in jamovi.

The survey includes the following variables:

  • Region: the region of the US the participant lives in.
  • Expenses: A simplified measure of socio-economic status.
  • Age
  • Happiness Importance[1]
  • Social Support[2]
  • Subjective Well-being[3]: Four-item measure
  • Relationship Well-being: A domain-specific type of life satisfaction
  • Financial Well-being: A domain-specific type of life satisfaction
  • Fun and Recreation Well-being: A domain-specific type of life satisfaction

Linked above is also the Well-being Survey Dataset in the format of a .csv file. In subsequent chapters, you will learn how to open such files in jamovi. This survey and data set are used in each chapter (except chapter 9) as we learn about using jamovi to manage data and conduct statistical tests. Chapter 9 includes a second dataset based on an experimental study. This second dataset is introduced at the beginning of chapter 9.
