Book Description
Sabores de me gente, roughly translated as “flavors of my people,” is a multimedia collection of undergraduate student-generated essays, video recipes, oral history interviews, social analysis, and artwork, exploring the idea of foodways rooted in community, within Latine spaces. This book features work and writings taking place largely in the latter half of 2025, with a regional focus on northern New Jersey. Split into three parts, this text has chapters that focus on 1) essays related to family foodways and meaning-making, 2) recipes and the stories behind them, and 3) a mezcla of pieces, including short stories, artwork, infographics and posters centered on Latine foodway themes.
